The Humanimal Tragedy
(How being a true animal is better than being a false human)
Becoming some sort of Humanimal is a fun wild fantasy for many. They love imagining themselves becoming something mindless, driven by lust, shamelessly flaunting the repressive world they normally inhabit. A world in which all their carnal desires are accepted and embraced. Then they have an intense orgasm and as the endorphins wash over them the need for such an animalistic life fades until they need release again. An intense wonderful fantasy.
For others, this need does not disappear when the orgasm hits. It persists. They cannot help thinking about while they are busy living their lives. Even during ordinary interactions with others they cannot escape the feeling that they do not belong among people. They develop the sense that they are mascarading as people. That lack of awareness of what exactly they are can lead to tragedy. Instead of trying to embrace their true selves, they hide the reality from others - and even themselves. They allow themselves to feel shame because they are still integrated with the human world.
Breaking the delusion that one is human, when one is not, is supremely difficult. Since awareness comes late, some people wind up building a decent enough life for themselves, at least when judged externally. Each success increases the cost of throwing everything away and makes the person more likely to cling to the illusion, even though they are increasingly miserable within their perfect little life. For some it takes being broken completely by the human world to finally break the illusion that they ever were human to begin with. For others the intensity of their desire increases until it overwhelms them and they cannot deny it any longer.
There is another fundamental disconnect unfortunately. When the break does occur, what is the unfortunate humanimal to do? They have consciously realized that they do not belong in human society yet where is there an alternative? Where is there a safe haven for them to be and live as they truly are? If they cannot find such a refuge they have no choice but to reluctantly put the mask back on and continue to pretend to be human, even though their heart is no longer in it and they no longer believe it can ever be true.
It is for these lost souls the Humanimal Farm exists.
